Since air travel was hit the hardest, thus the requirement to convert passenger aircraft to freight aircraft became a high priority for the industry players in the aerospace industry. The customer needed urgent support for its conversion program for in-service commercial aircraft to freighter aircraft during the period. Tata Technologies developed new offerings to help the customer during the pandemic.
Due to lack of resources, the customer was unable to meet stringent timelines for all their passenger-to-freight conversions. Right from design and production support to delivery, our teams supported with CAD, static and F&DT, PLM, and Tech Pub solutions for the customer’s passenger-to-freighter conversion programs. Good Knowledge of OEM products and their best practices, duly backed by our Aerostructures skill-sets, gave us a quick start in providing cost-effective solutions to the customer.
Since companies were working from remote locations, we proposed an offshore base model to cater to timelines and commercial challenges for better quality and quick turnaround. We also ramped up the team from 15 to 50 resources through the offshore onsite engagement model to cater to the customer’s increasing workload. We leveraged knowledge management tools for training and quick ramp-up.
The customer benefited from the complete engineering solutions for P2F conversion, leading to a 20% reduced turnaround time and 50% cost reduction. Our ‘one team with customer’ approach resulted in a positive customer feedback – the same resonating in a high NPS score.
