Press release

Warwick, April 19 2018 – Tata Technologies has held a ‘Cyclothon’ in aid of Warwick based charity, Molly Olly’s Wishes. Static bikes were set up in the reception area, and participants worked collectively to cycle over 400 miles, the equivalent distance of cycling from Leamington to Paris – easily surpassing their target of covering enough miles to reach Land’s End in Cornwall.

Founded in 2011 by Rachel and Tim Ollerenshaw in memory of their daughter Molly, the charity supports children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses during their treatment. This process is extremely daunting and difficult for young children to understand, so the charity has created the ‘Olly the Brave’ pack. This pack includes a book titled “Olly the Brave and the Wigglys”, designed to explain their treatment journey in a child-friendly way and a therapeutic toy lion ‘Olly’.

The charity also give out ‘wishes’ which range from providing special equipment to aid a child’s day to day life during treatment to a special occasion for a child who may otherwise feel isolated from normal life.

A total of 35 employees took part in the challenge, raising enough money to grant a wish for a child with a terminal or life-threatening illness and providing 15 ‘Olly the Brave’ packs.

“It was great to see some cyclists in the full professional gear and others in their suits; however they participated, it all made a difference. The money raised will support children and their families helping to ease the burdens of living with a terminal or life threatening illness” said Rachel Ollerenshaw.

“It is truly inspiring the difference and help that Molly Olly’s Wishes is providing to children and families who really need their support. We are just delighted to be able to support this special charity in any way we can” added Warren Harris, CEO and MD, Tata Technologies.
