SUMMARY: Join our CATIA expert, Lewis Breeding for part two of our CATIA Engineering Excellence series, in which we’ll explore the surface optimization capabilities in CATIA V5 Engineering Excellence. Lewis will discuss the smart tools available for local and global morphing of complex surfaces without altering the model quality, as well as the ability to modify surfaces coming from external systems. SUMMARY:Join our CATIA expert, Lewis Breeding to explore the DMU and IP Protection capabilities in CATIA V5 Engineering Excellence. He will cover the tools available for promoting the “what if” approach, where engineers and designers define and analyze mechanism motions and directly interact on design. In addition, he’ll discuss easy creation animation, which enables users to create compelling assembly and maintenance movies. Designers and engineers can also create a digital mock-up of their products to check for clashes, fitting problems and interferences. Lewis will also look at how CATIA can help companies manage their intellectual property (IP) by providing a filtering mechanism to integrate into their data exchange processes.
The Engineering Excellence configurations drastically reduce the need for physical prototypes. Designers and engineers alike will have the capability to validate, assess and modify product designs at any given time in the process, as the mechanism motions are fully associative with the product design; this in turn helps to validate and accelerate the release process. Couple this with the ability to check for interferences and minimum distances to ensure the products are designed right the first time and avoid costly mistakes after the parts have been built. Protect your IP by ensuring that OEM, supplier chain and risk sharing partners are provided with only data they need to share complete their product definition operations. SUMMARY:Join our CATIA expert, Lewis Breeding in the final part of this webinar series to explore the extended design capabilities in CATIA V5 Engineering Excellence. In this webinar, he will cover the 3D Master tools in CATIA V5 to provide 3D definition and management of standard-compliant tolerance specifications and annotations for parts and products. It transforms 3D as the master representation, directly re-usable for manufacturing planners to be shared throughout the enterprise. We will also look at the Fabricated Design capabilities of CATIA V5 to capitalize on your existing manufacturing know-how and take into account manufacturing constraints early in your design process. This will make you more efficient in creating welds, developing sheet metal parts and associated tooling that is fully compliant with company rules and standards for efficient manufacturing. We will also spend a little time on translations using the STEP protocol.
The Engineering Excellence configurations suppress the need for attached drawing documents. Designers and engineers alike can easily review and print off drawing information directly from 3D. This in turn helps to accelerate the time for part definition with already captured tolerance specifications and annotations in design templates. Designers will be able to efficiently develop sheet metal parts and easily apply company-defined standards to ensure design quality. It is important to take into account manufacturability constraints early in the design phase and speed up the design. In order to address machinery and tooling industries through advanced welding processes, weld creation in 3D will allow designers to manage digital pre-assembly, mass inertia, space reservation and drafting annotations. CATIA V5 is an open system, capable of inter-operating with data in the common data format standards used in the CAD/CAM/CAE industry. The CATIA – STEP Core Interface interactively reads and writes data in STEP AP214 and STEP AP203 data formats.
