Community development has always been an integral part of Tata Technologies. We have time and again sustained our commitment towards the society by standing true to our ethos of ‘Engineering a better world’. Despite the tumultuous times, we have worked tirelessly to keep the disadvantaged communities as the focus based on the globally agreed sustainable development principles in partnership with local governments, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders. Tata Technologies implements the social development programs across the globe in compliance to the local national laws, United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and Tata Group’s core principals of CSR. We are committed to integrating environmental, social and ethical principles into the core business, thereby enhancing long-term stakeholder value. A comprehensive CSR policy has been put in place, which is approved by the CSR Committee of the board.

Over past three years, we have been expanding our CSR portfolio in length and breadth enabling wider reach of needy community and we are doing this by some key differentiators:

  • early adoption of new-age technology-based interventions
  • inhouse conceptualizing and designing the programs to depth in consultation with stakeholders
  • moving towards Outcome Based Project
  • adopting innovative funding routes, multi-stakeholder engagement, leveraging government funds
  • creating value in the programs thereby attracting collaborations and moving towards SRoI (Social Return on Investment) based program implementation

Leveraging above differentiators and strengths, we are passionate about making difference in below most pertinent domains in today’s time:

  • Promoting STEM Education in Schools through our unique ‘4-Pillar STEM Education Program’ aligned to meet the needs of NEP 2020
  • Enhancing employability, innovation and entrepreneurship skills of graduate Engineers through our flagship program ‘Ready Engineer’
  • Fulfilling aspirations of women Engineers & addressing the gender diversity gap in the Engineering sector through our comprehensive scholarship program ‘Empowerment Via Education’
  • Addressing the needs of aspirational districts, our ‘Integrated Rural Development’ program focuses on holistic development of villages in the areas of education, health, livelihood, agriculture, water infrastructures etc.
  • Aligning to Tata Groups efforts towards disaster relief initiatives across India, we support food relief programs, medical aids and infra supports, cleanliness drives etc.
  • We leverage our employee volunteering efforts in our societal programs to bring in their expertise, experience and willingness to support for social cause

Our CSR programs in financial year 2021-22 in India included:

As part of our unique ‘4-Pillar STEM Education’ design, we focus on holistic approach to make a change in the education system. Our interventions include digital learning, hands on experiential learning, strengthening teachers on contemporary technologies and STEM based cross-subject pedagogies, establishing STEM tinkering labs and conducting a comprehensive career exploration and selection program. We are implementing iRISE (India Research Innovation and STEM Enhancement) program in partnership with DST, GOI (Department of Science and Technology), IISER Pune, Tata Trusts, British Council and Royal Society of Chemistry.

The program creates 450 master trainers and over 15,000 teachers will undergo a comprehensive training on STEM and innovation. Further, under our tinkering lab project, we are continuing establishing STEM Tinkering labs in govt and aided Schools which provides access to new age technologies such as IOT, Applied Electronics, Robotics, Rapid Prototyping etc. to Students and Teachers helping build a creative and problem-solving aptitude.

Ready Engineer 2.0, our flagship CSR program has reached to newer heights through collaboration with industrial associations and incubation partners such as MASSIA, BFC, GOSHIMA, MAGIC, GIZ (German Development Corporation) and Tata Strive.


The program covers over 6,000 students from over 32 Engineering institutes across 6 clusters in two states of India. The program is aimed to enhance the employability, innovation and entrepreneurial skills of graduate Engineers through multiple interventions including a top-notch course on automobile design developed by subject-matter-experts of Tata Technologies. Other initiatives include NPTEL scholarship, employability assessment and soft skill trainings.


Our innovation value proposition to students offers a series of intervention to fulfill their desired objective s. The interventions include Student-MSME program, Industry 4.0 project, Prayatna, Tech-Talk series, Trainings on design thinking (incl. Android App developer, Java Full Stack, Cyber Security), Idea Innovation Accelerator program and virtual platform for budding innovators at national level.

Empowerment via Education (EVE) under the ‘Ready Engineer’ umbrella aims to empower women Engineers. To date, we have successfully empowered more than 350 women Engineers. The program aims to support meritorious girls coming from low-income families with an average family income of INR 1.8 Lakhs per annum. We provide comprehensive scholarship for students for completing their Engineering Degree Course.


This year we also included girl students from other graduation courses, PG courses and High School students. Apart from educational and institutional fees, the scholarship also include cost covering their hostel, food and local travels. We see a tremendous turnaround in the students and her family’s lifestyle over the period.

Our Integrated Rural Development Project entered into third year. The program aims to fulfil aspirations of underprivileged population in Osmanabad district which is one of the aspirational districts of Government of India.


The program shall have a long-lasting impact on over 35 00 beneficiaries from two select villages. The program focuses on multi-development model covering – promotion of technical education in schools, increasing awareness on health and conducting multiple health camps, training farmers on advanced agricultural technologies, rejuvenating existing water sources and creating new water sheds, providing livelihood support in terms of live stocks for landless population etc..

As part of company’s disaster relief program, we prepared our ‘Covid Response Strategy which covered both curative and preventive measures. Key intervention areas included providing ventilators, oxygen concentrators, oximeters to Isolation centers & Hospitals. Equipment required at ICU centers, PPEs, N-95 masks, disposable masks, sanitizers etc. to Hospitals / Isolation centers, front line workers etc..

Mobile Vaccination Drive enabling vaccinations to over 45,000 doses to vulnerable community at their locations avoiding crowding at hospitals. This included AEFI (Adverse event following immunization) support through AEFI kit. As part of our ‘Covid Response Strategy’ food relief initiatives including daily Supplies, ration to homeless, daily wage earners were undertaken in Maan, Mulshi and Hinjewadi Grampanchayat areas. We supported with high quality grocery kits to over 300 families. We also supported with groceries to Saraswati Anath Shikshan Ashram, Dapodi (Pune) for 50 Children. The donation kits also included hygiene necessities recommended such as sanitizer, N95 masks etc..


As part of our annual support to Annamrita Foundation, we are helping them enhance the cooking capabilities through up-gradation of kitchen at Pimpri Pune Unit through procurement of new boiler, cooking utensils, pipeline repair works etc. As part of our environment commitment, we have initiated a pilot project of tree plantation at a School with a tri-objective model including nurturing environment, educating students on plantation and nurturing process and thus bringing them close to nature and further to generate livelihood/food for consumption by School.

As part of the company’s mission to stem the engineering skills shortage, Tata Technologies entered a partnership with governmental agencies and other corporations to establish the Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi (IIIT Ranchi) Jharkhand. IIIT Ranchi is an autonomous, not-for-profit, self-sustaining, teaching and research-led education institution.

Our CSR programs in UK and US territory included

We raised £1,900 for Rethink Mental illness Charity that works for people in Europe with mental health issues. In addition, we donated laptops to Stoke Heath Primary School in Coventry. In North America, we conducted book distribution, employee volunteering and reading celebration drives for the vulnerable communities through the NGO, First Book.

Moreover, we also supported the Penrickton Center for Blind Children with a contribution of around $2,500 and offered multiple free 30 days trial licenses of i GET IT for 11,000 registrations across the world worth 10,000 hours of free training. In addition, we donated USD 6,292 and developed a suitable Engineering skills program for ‘SAY Play’ in partnership with SAY Detroit and Mitch Albom Foundation. In addition, we supported three schools in Michigan by contributing $15,000 towards book donation to promote STEM.

Our environmental enrichment and sustainability initiatives were focused on efficient processes, optimized resources, transition to green infrastructure, inculcating the culture of conserving the natural capital to minimize the impact of your company’s operations. Moreover, we undertook energy monitoring & conservation initiatives, tree plantation & nurturing drives and water conservation & waste management (eWaste) projects. In Europe, we supported a key initiative of the Plastic Free Foundation known as plastic-free July. In North America, we implemented Project Night, a move towards energy-efficient office to support UN Sustainable Development Goals.
