Actran is used to perform acoustic analysis, the study of sound propagation through a medium such as a fluid (gas or liquid) or solid (structure).

  • Actran helps reduce physical prototyping costs and addresses the following challenges:
    Comfort: Consumers may find products very loud and annoying. There is a need to make such products more audibly pleasant.
  • Acoustic Signature: Some products are designed to have unique characteristics, including acoustic signatures. Examples include engine noise, the right shutter sound when a camera takes a picture, and so on.
  • Regulations: Vehicles can have high noise emissions, for example jet engine noise is noticeable by airport adjacent neighbourhoods. Regulations exist that limit the amount of noise vehicles can make.

Adams is used to predict the forces or mechanical loads of dynamic systems and its components. The loads are used in subsequent structural analysis. Examples of dynamic systems include: engines of ground vehicles, washing machines, mechanisms used in cameras, and so on.

Digimat lets engineers do both micro- and macro-scale analyses of composites, predicting how they will perform and calculating their mechanical, thermal and electrical properties for use in all sorts of downstream FEA analyses.

Dytran is a dedicated explicit nonlinear FEA solution used to assess the behaviour of structures and fluids subjected to the following conditions:
• The events to be simulated are high speed and short (transient dynamic)
• The shape or geometry of the solid is expected to change dramatically (large deformation / a high degree of nonlinearity) or contact of some sort is expected (boundary condition nonlinearity)
