The customer is at the forefront of trends and technology as a leading global tier-one supplier of airframe and engine structures, landing gear, and electrical interconnection systems. As they develop aerospace technologies for the future, they wanted to make their processes and data future-proof with a single source of truth.


With too many processes and data from varied sources, the customer lacked collaboration and traceability. The product development process, including CAD management and configuration management, was not streamlined with no existing traceability related to requirements and Bill of Materials. Different sites had different change processes that needed to be unified. Tata Technologies, with its reputation as a global leader in digital data management solutions for the manufacturing industry, became the customer’s preferred choice for the endeavor.


The customer trusted Tata Technologies for our expertise in the PLM domain. We began with thorough consulting and understanding as-in processes to further define the to-be processes with an implementation roadmap. Leveraging PTC Windchill and Siemens Teamcenter, we successfully implemented PLM across 6 locations – both civil and defense facilities, comprising more than 1300+ users. We carried out PLM implementation to streamline business processes, followed by data migration from legacy system to enterprise PLM and upstream and downstream applications.

Having a single source of truth harmonized business processes across multiple regions, while enabling seamless processes, data flow, collaboration, and traceability. PLM simplified the complex configuration management process too. In addition to multi-nationality and air space regulations, the customer was also facing challenges in handling classified data which can be addressed from a secure and reliable single point now.

We adopted a partnership approach for complex system implementation to ensure that the goals and objectives are in place to drive expectations. Our globally distributed execution model ensured a balance between onshore customer intimacy and offshore efficiency. Highly effective project team members were deployed onsite with the lead members directly for managing the offshore resources.
