The customer is the world’s leading and best-in-class aero engine and component repair provider, with a diversified portfolio. The company has expanded and innovated its way to prominence by becoming the MRO operator of choice for some of the biggest names in the aviation world.


Serving some of the biggest names in the aviation industry, the customer was looking to reduce their engine overhauling turnaround time by making their processes efficient while ensuring product safety and reducing their inventory cost. The customer was seeking a partner with a unique combination of engineering skills, development experience and application know-how with a drive to innovate high-precision tools at a sustainable cost. This is when Tata Technologies came into the picture.


Tata Technologies offered engine MRO tooling design, tooling harmonization design, manufacturing drawings, tooling analysis, bill of material, and component repair tooling as part of the entire design services suite. To offer better tooling support, we started by understanding current process to remove few operation sequences (build/ strip) to reduce the overall turnaround time (TRT). Our team of specialized engineers offered tool harmonization solutions that combine different features in one tool to reduce cost and minimize space for storage.

The tool harmonization process helped the customer realize approximately 20% reduction in manufacturing cost, 35% reduction in tools storage space and 30% less tool inventory for better planned production. The customer realized approximately 80% cost savings due to harmonization in engine maintenance tool.

Over the last 3 years, Tata Technologies has designed over 500+ tools for the customer. With a specialized team built for special purpose tool requirements, we provided safer design by considering fool proof methods while complying with product safety laws, OMSD and compliances. For efficient manufacturing, our team helped the customer automate its production processes while maximizing performance, optimizing efficiency, and reducing operating costs. We worked as one team with the customer, striving to deliver outcomes that are better.
